Piyali’s experience working with clients has given her a unique perspective to assess and analyze regulatory and technical compliance as applicable to the alternative investments audit space. She leads the Alternative Investments (AI) Audit training committee which provides technical training to the AI audit team. She is also part of the Thought Leadership team at Richey May and co-authored several technical whitepapers, including one on Crypto valuation. In addition, Piyali is a part of the professional development leadership team at the Richey May organization level, training committee for AI technical trainings. She primarily works with clients in the alternative investments (AI) audit industry, but has experience working in other areas including manufacturing, fast moving consumer goods, hotels, for-profit educational institutions, not-for-profit organizations.
In her capacity as a Senior Audit Manager at Richey May, Piyali primarily serves all types of AI clients including hedge funds, private equity/venture capital funds, real estate funds, fund-of-funds as well as crypto Funds. Her current role also includes working with the AI audit partners to identify and maintain strategic goals of the AI service line at Richey May. She oversees audit managers with overall authority over audit leads, senior associates, and associates. In addition, she also develops long-term relationships and networks both internally and externally and participates in practice development activities. Actively builds effective working relationships with client personnel. Prior to joining Richey May, she worked as staff auditor in Kundinger, Corder & Engle, P.C. She also has audit article ship experience from PriceWaterhouse Coopers in Bangalore, India, where she was part of the external audit team.
As a former State Math Olympiad from India, Piyali loves analyzing numbers. Changing regulations in the AI audit space fuels her need for continuous learning. She is also passionate about training and motivating teams internally to continuously improve audit quality and to ensure the delivery of exceptional client service. Piyali was born in India and also lived in the Middle East and Europe before moving to the United States. Piyali currently lives in Colorado with her Physician husband and two children. In her free time, she enjoys working out on the Peloton bike, hiking, painting, creative writing, and spending time with family and friends.
