Erik Edson is an Audit Partner in the Alternative Investments Practice at Richey May, where he has served since 2014 after an eight-year tenure as Audit Manager at Rothstein Kass. He specializes in providing audit and advisory services for a broad array of financial services clients, including domestic and offshore hedge funds, broker-dealers, mortgage-backed securities, commodity pools, master-feeder structures, ’40 Act funds, fund of funds, private equity, venture capital funds, real estate funds, and hedge fund management companies. With deep expertise in the accounting treatment of complex financial instruments such as equity and debt securities, asset-backed securities, and derivatives—including swaps, futures, and forwards—Erik helps clients navigate valuation issues, especially in relation to ASC 820. He is known for advising on entity formation, audit processes, operational management, and regulatory compliance, and he has authored several articles on U.S. GAAP and alternative investment regulations. A proactive leader, Erik contributes to internal best practice committees and is instrumental in developing new processes and procedures across the firm. He drives firm-wide training initiatives, ensuring teams are well-versed in the latest industry standards.
