Richey May Capital Education Series

Part 1: Rule 506B vs 506C: Which One is Right for You?

In February 2021, Richey May hosted the first webinar in the Richey May Capital Education Series to help fund managers learn more about how to raise capital. Richey May is working with Cap Intro Solutions to offer capital introduction programs that funds can benefit from.

This educational webinar covered Rule 506B vs 506 C. The experts at Cap Intro Solutions compared and contrasted the two options, discussed how this decision will play into your fund’s asset raising strategy and what you can do if you feel you chose the wrong option during setup.

Part 2: Allocating Money and the Due Diligence Process

In March 2021, Richey May hosted the second webinar in the Richey May Capital Education Series to help answer questions regarding what constitutes investment or operational due diligence and what allocators look at when allocating money. Carl Friedrich and Steve Perrino from Excelsior Investment Advisors, LLC answered these questions and more. The presentation is full of examples of hot topics, deal-killers, and unique approaches to hedge fund due diligence.

Part 3: IRA Custodian Money, Additional Ways to Raise Capital

As a part of the Richey May Capital Education Series, we worked with Brad Janitz and Adam Sypniewski of Midland Trust to create a video covering the most common questions people have around IRA Custodian Money and additional ways to raise Capital. If you’ve been thinking about IRA money but never really wanted to dig into it, or maybe you’ve never thought about it and are here to just find out and learn a little bit more, you have come to the right place. In the video, Brad and Adam discuss considerations fund managers should be thinking about when onboarding IRA or 401K investors. We have also created the following summary of the video below. Keeping the following tips in mind will allow you to be the most effective when you are having these discussions with your investors. See video and full transcript on our blog.

Part 4: What To Do With Investor Contacts

As part of our continuing Capital Education Series, Richey May has paired up with Kristin Steele, founder of LaunchPad Creative, for her expertise on investor contacts and CRM solutions for the alternative investments industry.

Kristin’s insight in the article below provides fund managers with the key components of what to look for in a CRM system to build brand equity and credibility with investors. CRM has been evolving quickly and fund managers are now embedding CRMs into their operations as well as Virtual Data Rooms (VDR) to give investors access to portfolio level information, video updates, and other information while instilling confidence and trust.

This article also covers critical CRM features such as:

  • Integration
  • Email
  • Pipeline Management
  • Investor Data Room & Portal
  • Deal Management

Part 5: What’s In Your Marketing Toolkit?

You wouldn’t try to work on your house without the proper tools! Similarly, a full marketing toolkit is essential to your capital raising strategy. Preparation for investor meetings requires strategy and creativity. Holly Singer, Founder of HS Marketing, and Felicia Mullison, CMO of Richey May, discuss the components and best practices for fund managers to create or upgrade a successful brand identity and marketing strategy to raise capital. Richey May is dedicated to sharing best practices and trends in the industry to help you stay competitive in your marketplace

Part 6: The Perfect Pitchbook

Since a high-quality pitch book is a critical part of a capital raising strategy, this part of the Capital Education Series features ImageArb as they talk through what it takes for fund managers to have The Perfect Pitchbook in a short video.

Part 7: Contributed Securities

As part of our on-going series, two of Richey May’s Alternative Investments tax experts, Sean Sawey and Dan Flores, answer all your most frequently asked questions around contributed securities in our video.
