Jonathan Sharon is a Tax Partner in the Alternative Investments practice at Richey May, where he has been a leader since 2014. He specializes in tax compliance and advisory services for hedge funds, fund of funds, private equity funds, PFICs, and venture capital vehicles, managing and overseeing tax planning for both domestic and foreign clients. During his time at Richey May, Jonathan has provided expertise in formation, structure, and the taxation of complex financial products, playing a key role in educating clients and internal teams on evolving tax law changes. Jonathan’s career began with nearly five years as a Tax Manager at UMB Fund Services, followed by nearly two years at Rothstein Kass, where he managed compliance for multiple fund types and supervised the performance of tax teams. He contributed to firm-wide initiatives, including best practice and state tax committees, and regularly taught tax training sessions to hedge fund administrators. Known for his comprehensive approach and thoughtful leadership, Jonathan is respected for his insights on fund tax challenges, regulatory strategy, and the enhancement of processes for both clients and colleagues across the industry.
